Monkey Island for its insult swordfighting. "How appropriate, you fight like a cow".

Monkey Island 2 for its Spitting competition.

and the whole franchise for its incredible humor and artwork.
if you missed out on this...GET IT.

as far as the marriage is concerned in Sid Meier's Pirates! its fairly lame.

You CAN get married but theres nothing tying you down, the only thing you get out of it is the occasional crummy bit of info from your new wife and the obligation to go to stupid ballroom dances.

huh, on second thoughts its got the real thing down pat.

Conquer Online (crappy F2P MMORPG) has marriage, houses (that you mine materials for) and has a map where it's always night time and their moon actually coincides with the real phases of the moon.

Harvest moon should be on the unique feature thing.
So fun and a game based near entirely on farming is unheard of, aside from it.

Tales of series for the battle system which is fun and refreshing from most rpgs.
Pokemon EV mechanic, not all too common.

No really, the physics suck. That's done with no mods, base HL2 game. The physics really are atrocious.

Well, give me some examples of better physics, I'll put them on the list.

Crysis and Company of Heroes comes to mind right off the bat. I like how the physics in these games (Half Life 2 included) actually affect gameplay and aren't just eye candy.

And of course, pretty much any game out there that uses a physics processor; even without a PPU, the physics still kick ass.

Wild Arms V uses a hex based combat system that is completely unique. Wild Arms IV used it as well, but unfortunately, the rest of that game blowed big time.

Cel Shaded Visuals are somewhat rare in video games these days. The best examples of it's effective use are Zelda: Wind Waker on the gamecube and Tales of Symphonia, also a Gamecube game. Less notable, are games from the Shin Megami Tensei series and certain instalments of the Wild Arms series, which employ a pseudo-cell shaded look. Lastly, Cel Damage, a s**** racing game, used it. The only decent use of cel shading outside of the RPG genre, however, was a game called XIII, (anyone remember that?)

Edit: I forgot TF2 lol

Edit 2: I would have to dispute a few things about "Outside"... Incredible NPC AI is rather taking the mickey, don't you think?

You can add Resident Evil 4 to the list here. Your character has to first rescue, then protect the President's daughter and serve as her bodyguard for half the game. If she is captured or killed, you lose. Enemies will pick her up and carry her over their shoulder, and you have to kill them before they escape. You can order her to follow you, stay put, and in some places, hide. Ashley can't climb or drop down from ledges by herself; instead you must catch her. She can also climb on your shoulders to scale locked gates and open them for you from the other side.

"Leon!"
"HEEEELLLP!"
"Help me, Leon!" -random Ashley quotes when she's captured

Do you have any earlier examples besides a game that's four years newer than HL2?

Well it doesn't have "unique features", per se, but is unique in how they're are implemented. It's essentially an incredibly light and simplier version of Battlefield, and because of that it's been able to become one of the greatest shooters of all time.

XIII was and remains an excellent FPS (if a bit easy). Shame the multiplayer was so crap.

I highly recommend that game as well as the graphic novel series its based on, good stuff.

Guild Wars has weather at least, even though it doesn't change... (and lighting effects too!)

I think you should make a category called "Super 1337" and put super smash bros brawl in this category. It deserves it, I think.

I really dislike Guild War's color shading. Your character will, in a lot of instances, retain the same color and brightness he had in the open sunlight when he goes under a tree or in a cave. It was a real annoying nitpick of mine.

Wasn't the point, you just asked for games with better physics. You also never mentioned in your list about the age of the game, just that Half Life 2 had amazing physics. Which it doesn't. Also, about Assassins Creed, you might want to give special mention for animation, both on foot and overall. The games animation was stunning.

All I asked was if there were other games that had better physics than HL2 during it's time, you may be getting me confused with Darkwasp.

That said, it should be expected that a newer game should have better physics than a now four year old one.

Again, not the point. While HL2 did have an actually make use of physics, they were extremely horrible. Sure, things fell to the floor when they should have, but they were so open to exploitation (see: bunny hopping faster than a vehicle could ever move and flying on a bucket by repeatedly dropping, grabbing and jumping while looking down on the bucket in HL2 done quick). Praising it for making use of physics instead of them being eye candy, sure. Being good? Sorry, they were awful.
